On 1 September 2007, GNI established Mother Earth Children’s Hut, an alternative school designated for the children of scavengers and poverty – stricken families.
GNI is a foundation legalized by Notarial Deed Number 77, dated 28 September 2007. Thus, GNI has a clear legal entity.

Vision:
Reviving and encouraging women in playing an active role at all fields in nation development.

Mission:
An access to materialize the ideals of "Education For All" which education is affordable by community at all levels, especially the poverty – stricken community.

Running programs to improve women’s capacity, in developing a healthy society not only by physically and mentally but also by environmentally, sociality and spiritually.

GNI Programs

A. Improvement of Human Capacity and quality

  1. Education and Culture Program
    • To materialize “Education For All” through the development of Mother Earth Children’s r Hut (PAPI).
    • Training for teachers/volunteers who will be assigned to PAPI.
    • Monthly discussions on education in the Mother Earth Children’s Learning Communities, inviting the speakers from among the education figures.
    • Foster parents program
      Is designed to those donors who would like to share with the children at PAPI schools for the purposes of their learning and development.
    • Culture-Aware Movement
      To develop children Roda Music Workshop and Mother Earth Pearl Workshop, under the umbrella of GNI.
    • Community libraries
      Setting up libraries in the urban poor and laborer communities in Depok, Jakarta and Tangerang, in the farmer and Islamic boarding school communities in Bandung. In the fishermen and Islamic boarding school communities in Lasem, Rembang, Central Java, to support the PAPI learning communities and inexpensive schools, except for Lasem, Central Java.
    • Mother Earth Pearl Staying Houses
      Shelter for the students of Mother Earth Children’s Hut who have difficulties to access the schools.

  2. Women Empowerment Program
    • Ready-to-use skills training and workshops
      The ready-to-use skills training is intended to prepare women in the communities to become financially independent. With their skills, they will be able to obtain the incomes for themselves. The training will include the following:
      • Training for non-expert or unskilled women:
        • Sewing
        • Cooking
        • Makeup
        • Batik making (particularly Lasem)
          Mother Conscience Movement and Batik Nalini, batik producer of Lasem Town, will establish a workshop for Lasem batik making, particularly in Ngemplak, Lasem, Central Java. The workshop is intended as an effort to conserve   Indonesian culture and will become training and work center of GNI, in cooperation with Al-Aziz Islamic Boarding School Cooperative in Ngemplak, Lasem (special proposal attached).
      • Training for professionals and entrepreneurs:
        • Entrepreneurship Development
          To those who have had business activities but still need supervision for their business development.
        • Financial Management (Financial Intelligence) Training
          for businesswomen to get them accustomed to applying simple management to develop their businesses to the maximum.
    • Developing the networks to study the pluralistic condition of the women, including the classes, races, cultures and religions. Activities will be in the form of open discussions called “Rumpian Gandul or Gandul Chatting”.

  3. Health and Environment
    • Providing Healthcare and Counseling Information
      In cooperation with Yayasan BINA MANDIRI health service center, GNI provides information on health. The purpose is that the people, particularly those in Gandul, Depok, will be able to understand healthcare problems in connection with their needs. Increase awareness of the importance of leading an optimally healthy life, and “there is no need for medication if you are healthy”. Being optimally healthy means being healthy physically, environmentally/naturally, socially and spiritually. GNI provide counseling and assistance, including counseling for the families of HIV/AIDS patients and drug addicts, referral services, health elucidation, and other supporting services.
    • Healthcare Services
      Optimum healthcare services include bio-physical, social and spiritual services. These healthcare services include:
      • Gathering objective and subjective data on patients (analyses);
      • Routine medical checkup for mothers and children; This medical checkup is conducted every 6 months, including women’s reproduction organs, tooth growth and child nutrition.
      • Family health consultation;
      • Nutrition House Program for children in cooperation with EMAK (Delicious, Economic and Anti-Corruption) Kitchen.

B. Campaign

  1. Making of postcards, T-shirts and pins to be distributed
  2. Civic education by holding discussions, workshops and training;
  3. Management of websites and mail as a forum for giving opinions;
  4. Indonesian culture awareness movement through events of arts and culture.

C. “We Are One” Social Service as a form of care of the environment and society

  1. Natural Disaster Command Posts of Assistance;
  2. Administering the Public Kitchen (EMAK Kitchen);
  3. Cheap Market of the Nine Basic Commodities
  4. Free-of-Charge Medical Checkup for Mothers and Children;
  5. Mass Circumcision;
